Curtin Launches Indigenous Yoga for Mental Health

Healthway, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing in Western Australia, has awarded Curtin University a grant of $1.1 million to support its Act Belong Commit mental health promotion campaign. This funding will enable the campaign to continue for the next two years, ensuring its reach and impact on the mental health of Western Australians. The Act Belong Commit campaign, launched in 2017, has been a significant success in promoting positive mental health practices.

The program is designed to be a long-term commitment, with a focus on building sustainable change within the school environment. This means that the program is not a one-off event but rather a continuous process that involves ongoing support and development. The program’s key components include:

* **Building resilience:** This involves teaching students about coping mechanisms, stress management techniques, and emotional regulation skills. * **Managing stress:** This component focuses on identifying and understanding the sources of stress in the school environment, and developing healthy coping strategies.
