This is my journey, my story, and my passion. **Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month is a time for all of us to raise awareness about this deadly disease.** The month of September is dedicated to highlighting the importance of early detection, prevention, and treatment for ovarian cancer. **Early detection is crucial for increasing survival rates.** This can be achieved through regular self-exams, annual pelvic exams, and awareness of symptoms.
The CA-125 blood test is a tumor marker that is used to detect the presence of cancer. It is elevated in the presence of cancer. The CA-125 blood test is a valuable tool for early detection of ovarian cancer.
The specialist was able to diagnose my condition and explain the treatment plan in detail. She also provided me with a comprehensive list of resources and support groups. She was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. The specialist’s expertise and compassion were evident in every interaction. Her knowledge of the latest medical advancements and her ability to explain complex medical information in a clear and concise manner were truly impressive.
Debulking is a surgical procedure that aims to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Debulking is often used in the case of cancer, especially in the early stages. The surgery was followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses drugs to kill cancer cells. It is often used in conjunction with surgery to kill remaining cancer cells.
This genetic predisposition to cancer, however, didn’t stop me from pursuing my dream of becoming a doctor. The positive test result was a shock, but it also brought a sense of clarity. I realized that I needed to be proactive about my health and take preventative measures.

I am a dedicated consumer reviewer for the Department of Defense’s Ovarian Cancer Research Program (2020-Present.) I attended the 2023 and 2024 annual meetings of American Association for Cancer Research as part of the AACR Scientist↔Survivor Program. I attended the 2024 ASCO annual meeting as part of ASCO’s Conquer Cancer Scholarship Program. In October 2023, I presented at the Ovarian Cancer Academy’s retreat and at the AACR Special Conference on Ovarian Cancer in Boston. I recently graduated from the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s 2024 Project LEAD Institute with my focus being the connection between breast and ovarian cancer. I will be presenting a poster at the AACR/Rivkin Center’s Conference on Ovarian Cancer in Seattle in September 2024.
This is a personal mission, driven by my own experience with ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed at 32, and I am a survivor. I want to contribute to the research community by sharing my story and experiences, and by advocating for the need for more research funding. My research interests lie in the field of ovarian cancer, specifically in the development of new diagnostic tools and treatments.
