About TheYogaWoman
Our Mission
TheYogaWoman was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to help yogis everywhere practice smarter, through approachable guidance and free tools that make planning a practice, timing your meditation, estimating pose difficulty, and building a breathwork routine clearer, more rewarding, and more practical.
We believe that everyone who practices or dreams of practicing yoga, from first-time students to seasoned practitioners, deserves access to accurate tools, comprehensive resources, and trustworthy guidance. Our platform bridges the gap between confusing information and confident, well-informed decisions about poses and sequences, breathwork and meditation, practice plans and mindfulness, prenatal and therapeutic yoga, and practicing safely.
Through our free collection of tools, we help yogis make informed decisions about practice schedules, mat sizing, meditation timing, pose difficulty, breathing patterns, and calories burned in a session. Every tool is designed with real-world applicability in mind, tested against the day-to-day realities of building and maintaining a practice, and continuously improved based on user feedback. To go deeper, explore our Yoga & Wellness museum, with galleries on classic asanas and their origins, meditation and breathwork traditions, yoga philosophy and lineages, and the culture behind every great practice.
Our Story
TheYogaWoman emerged from a need we experienced firsthand. While trying to sort through conflicting advice and scattered references, we noticed a common challenge: the lack of accessible, accurate tools for the everyday decisions that come with building a practice, planning your sessions, and making the most of every class.
A rewarding practice relies heavily on curiosity and a little know-how, which are invaluable. However, a confident yogi also benefits from clear answers about how a weekly practice plan breaks down, how challenging a pose really is, how long to hold a meditation, how to structure breathwork, and what mat size fits their body. We saw an opportunity to combine well-researched yoga knowledge with modern tools to help people make confident decisions about every practice.
Our team began developing tools that we wished existed when we started our first sessions. Each calculator and guide was created to solve real problems encountered when scheduling a practice, gauging a pose, or pacing a breathing routine. We tested every tool against real-world numbers, refined the logic based on feedback, and ensured that the results reflected current, widely accepted yoga and wellness practice.
Today, TheYogaWoman serves active users worldwide, from first-time students to lifelong yoga enthusiasts. Our tools have helped people schedule practices, size their mats, time meditations, gauge pose difficulty, build breathing patterns, and estimate calories, and make more deliberate, confident practice decisions.
